Approximately duration: 2.5 hours Hummingbirds comprise the second largest and the best known avian family in America, with its 330 species. They are found from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego; however, they are more numerous in the tropics. Besides the beautiful colors, hummingbirds are notable for their small size and fast movements. They are also known for their nectar feeding which provide them with energy; but they also eat small insects and/or spiders, which provide them with proteins. In Costa Rica you can find over 57 species of hummingbirds. A slide show will introduce you to Monteverde’s natural history. Different species of flora and fauna are displayed to inform the visitors about the biodiversity of this region.
